What an independent advice fee usually covers
Transparency about fees builds trust. Here is how Crown Hill structures charges for planning work versus product arrangement.
Independent financial advice in the UK is paid for either as a fixed planning fee, an hourly charge, or a percentage of assets when ongoing reviews are included. At Crown Hill we prefer to quote a clear planning fee before any recommendations are written, so you know the cost of the advice itself.
That fee typically covers discovery meetings, research of your existing pensions and investments, cash-flow modelling, a written report, and a recommendation meeting. It does not include solicitor fees, accountant fees, or product premiums paid to insurers or investment platforms.
If you ask us to arrange a pension transfer, ISA, or protection policy, we agree any implementation charge in writing first. You remain free to take the plan and instruct another firm — or to do nothing — without pressure.
Ongoing review retainers exist for clients who want an annual check on progress against goals. They are optional. Many households return only when a life event — inheritance, divorce, or leaving employment — changes the picture.
